Welcome to Leaps and Hounds classes. Trainer-led group dog education classes service based in Exeter, UK. By booking and participating in our walks, you agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before making a booking.
1. Definitions
"We," "Us," or "Our": Refers to Leaps and Hounds the organiser and provider of the group classes
"You" or "Participant": Refers to the individual booking and/or participating in a class or course or classes, including the owner or handler of the dog(s).
"Class": Refers to the trainer-led group training classes organised by Leaps and Hounds
"Dog": Refers to the dog(s) accompanying the participant to the classes.
2. Booking and Payment
2.1. Booking Process: All sessions must be booked in advance via our website or via direct contact with a session leader. Bookings are subject to availability and are confirmed only upon receipt of full payment or a deposit, as specified at the time of booking.
2.2. Payment: Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise stated. Payments are non-refundable except as outlined in Section 4 (Cancellations and Refunds).
2.3. Pricing: Prices are as advertised on our website. We reserve the right to change prices without prior notice, but this will not affect confirmed bookings.
2.4. Minimum Age: Participants must be at least 18 years old to book a class. Minors may attend with a parent or guardian, subject to prior agreement with us.
3. Participant and Dog Requirements
3.1. Dog Health and Behaviour:
- All dogs must be in good health, fully vaccinated (including kennel cough), and free from contagious diseases or parasites (e.g., fleas, ticks). Proof of vaccinations may be requested.
- Dogs must be well-socialised and non-aggressive towards other dogs or people. We reserve the right to refuse participation to any dog displaying aggressive or disruptive behaviour.
- Dogs in season (heat) are not permitted to participate.
- All dogs must be microchipped and registered as required by UK law (The Microchipping of Dogs (England) Regulations 2015).
3.2. Equipment:
- Dogs must wear a secure collar or harness with an ID tag displaying the owner’s contact details, as required by the Control of Dogs Order 1992.
- Participants must provide a suitable lead (no extendable leads permitted unless approved by the trainer).
- Participants are required to have a 5m training line. We have options for temporary loan and purchase from us.
- Participants are responsible for bringing waste bags and ensuring their dog’s waste is collected and disposed of appropriately.
3.3. Participant Conduct:
- Participants must follow the trainer’s instructions at all times to ensure the safety of all dogs and participants.
- Participants are responsible for their dog’s behaviour and must maintain control of their dog at all times.
- Participants must disclose any known behavioural or health issues about their dog prior to the class.
3.4. Fitness and Ability: Participants must be physically capable of participating in the class, which may involve uneven terrain and varying weather conditions. Please inform us of any medical conditions or accessibility requirements at the time of booking.
4. Cancellations and Refunds
4.1. Cancellations by You:
- Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled class are eligible for a full refund or rescheduling, subject to availability.
- Cancellations made within 48 hours of the walk are non-refundable but may be rescheduled at our discretion.
- No-shows forfeit the full payment and are not eligible for rescheduling.
4.2. Cancellations by Us:
- We reserve the right to cancel a class or course of classes due to insufficient bookings, adverse weather, trainer illness, or other unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, you will be offered a full refund or the option to reschedule.
- We are not liable for any additional costs incurred by you (e.g., travel expenses) due to a cancellation.
4.3. Refunds: Refunds, where applicable, will be processed within 14 days of the cancellation request using the original payment method.
5. Liability and Insurance
5.1. Liability:
- Participation in Leaps and Hounds classes is at your own risk. We are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage to you, your dog, or your property during the class, except where caused by our negligence.
- You are responsible for any damage or injury caused by your dog to other dogs, people, or property during the class.
5.2. Insurance: We hold public liability insurance for our classes. We recommend that you have your own pet insurance to cover veterinary costs, third-party liability, or other incidents involving your dog.
5.3. Personal Belongings: We are not responsible for the loss or damage of personal belongings brought to the walk.
6. Safety and Welfare
6.1. Trainer Authority: The trainer leading the class has absolute authority to make decisions regarding the safety and welfare of all participants and dogs. This includes excluding any dog or participant from the class if deemed necessary.
6.3. Weather Conditions: Sessions may proceed in light rain or adverse weather unless deemed unsafe by the trainer. Participants should dress appropriately and ensure their dog is comfortable in the conditions.
7. Photography and Media
7.1. We may take photographs or videos during the classes for promotional or training purposes. By participating, you consent to the use of such media, including images of you and your dog, on our website, social media, or other marketing materials.
7.2. If you do not wish for you or your dog to be photographed or filmed, please notify us in writing at the time of booking.
8. Data Protection
8.1. We collect and process personal data (e.g., your name, contact details, and dog information) in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
8.2. Your data will be used to manage bookings, communicate with you, and ensure the safety of the class. We will not share your data with third parties except as required by law or with your consent.

9. Complaints and Disputes
9.1. If you have a complaint, please contact us within 7 days of the session at info@leapsandhoundsdogtrining.co.uk. We will aim to resolve the issue promptly and fairly.
9.2. These Terms and Conditions are governed by English law, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
10. Changes to Terms and Conditions
10.1. We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. The most current version will be available on our website, and significant changes will be communicated to you via email or at the time of booking.
10.2. Continued participation in our classes after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms and Conditions.
